Holding a bottle to a puma cub's mouth, Anjana the chimp displays all the behaviours of a caring mother nourishing her vulnerable offspring.
The odd pairing is nothing unusual to staff at Anjana's zoo in South Carolina, where the five-year-old ape is renowned for her affinity with little big cats.
Zookeepers say Anjana and her latest charge, a nine-week-old orphan named Sierra, have become inseparable.
Anjana helps the zookeepers feed and care for Sierra
If Sierra is running too fast then Anjana will scoop her up
If you need a baby wipe ... she'll run off and get it
Anjana learned how to care for cats by imitating the zoo's feline curator
She is a great assistant
